Sop’s Arm, Newfoundland and Labrador, is arguably one of the most picturesque villages on the island. It is located a short drive off the provincial highway, at the bottom of the Northern Peninsula, via a winding mountain road peppered on each side by lakes and ponds, and even a waterfall. Three tiny communities surround the ocean inlet: Pollard’s Point, Sop’s Arm, and Jackson’s Arm. In its prime, the economy was booming with multiple fish plants, in addition to forestry, and a hydro-electric project. Today, the area is a draw for hunting and ski-doo tours. Running through the communities is Main River, an attractive location for avid salmon fishers and popular for white-water kayaking.
